In Memory of Robert C. Josefsberg, Esq.

Robert C. Josefsberg, Esq.

Dade Legal Aid - Put Something Back Pro Bono Project and the entire South Florida legal community mourn the loss of Robert “Bob” Josefsberg, Esquire, of Podhurst Orseck, P.A., a veritable giant in the legal field.  Mr. Josefsberg passed away on July 14, 2025, at 86 years old, after a long and successful legal career that spanned over 65 years. A bar leader and true giant in and out of the courtroom, he was best known for being a kind, caring, and generous person who always made time for anyone in need from every walk of life. He genuinely cared for others, always accepted challenging pro bono cases with enthusiasm and excitement, and had recently learned a new area of law in order to represent a struggling family in need an adoption through Put Something Back.

Mr. Josefsberg’s leadership, advocacy, and contributions to Dade Legal Aid and the legal profession are not limited to the amount of cases he took, but he will also be remembered for generously contributing his time to mentoring generations of attorneys. Having shaped the lives and careers of hundreds of young attorneys, judges, and countless others, his memory will live on forever. Mr. Josefsberg regularly presented at Put Something Back seminars and for Dade Legal Aid’s Leadership Academy and was one of our most dedicated supporters. His leadership, professionalism, and passion helped shape the Academy and has inspired each Class of Fellows over the past decade. In honor of his selfless dedication to pro bono legal services, the Academy was renamed to The Robert C. Josefsberg Leadership Academy recognizing Mr. Josefsberg’s legacy, decades of leadership, and profound impact he made on generations of lawyers. Dade Legal Aid has established this fund to honor and continue his passionate work on behalf of vulnerable children, victims of sex trafficking, and other low-income residents in dire need of legal representation with nowhere else to turn. In Bob’s own words, “taking pro bono cases is like eating chocolate chip cookies… you can’t stop with just one!”

Thank you for joining us in honoring his memory.
