In Memory of Terrence G. Biddulph

Terrence G. Biddulph

Terrence "Terry" Biddulph was a prominent Miami banker serving the legal community for over 40 years until his passing in October 2020. Throughout his distinguished career, Terry was deeply committed to community service and philanthropy. He was a dedicated supporter of Dade Legal Aid and its Put Something Back program for over 35 years, sponsoring, promoting and attending every event. In recognition of his significant contributions to the improvement of the legal landscape in Miami, and for his commitment to our pro bono program, Dade Legal Aid established the Terrence Biddulph Citizenship Award to honor him. Terry's legacy is remembered fondly by colleagues and friends for his kindness, professionalism, and unwavering support for the Miami community. The award is given to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the legal community and pro bono work. The first recipient was Idalberto "Bert" De Armas, of First Horizon Bank, who received the award in October 2021.  The second recipient of this award is Honorable Julie Harris Nelson, a County Court Judge in the Criminal Division in Miami-Dade County since 2019.

Judge Julie Harris Nelson earned her B.B.A from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and earned her J.D. from St. Thomas University School of Law. Before joining the bench, she was an Assistant State Attorney, a partner at ROIG Lawyers where she performed hundreds of hours of pro bono work, and held leadership roles in the Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers and Dade County Bar Associations. Nelson remains actively involved in community service and received pro bono awards from Put Something Back while in private practice. She served on the board of Miami Bridge Youth and Family Services, leads the Miami Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, and participates in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, promoting literacy initiatives for children. She is a true role model and hero to others.

Judge Julie Harris Nelson was awarded the Terrence G. Biddulph Outstanding Community Partner Award on October 10. 2025.
